grass linux HW

Dear All,

I am interested in installing Linux and GRASS onto a PC with a Pentium
75, 16 MB RAM, 850 MB IDE drive, PCI bus, 2X cd-rom, and I think my monitor
is running at 1024x768 resolution with 1 MB RAM. I figure that keeping
all of my dos/windows applications will force me to buy another drive
for Linux and GRASS. The question is: Are there any additional
hardware considerations I should be aware of. Also, if I need to make
a hardware change what would likely be the most cost-effective solution?

Hi Dave, if you want to install Linux the first hardware consideration
is compatibility with the linux release you want to install
(especially check your video card and CD).
You can find in many linux places over the net the linux hardware
compatibility Howto (look at http://sunsite.unc.edu/mdw/linux.html).
For an easy installation of grass for linux you can buy the cheap
Andres Holz CD (holzandr at erls12.kwu.siemens.de)
or download Kang's binaries from moon (grass home).
Both works fine !!!

Ciao, Massimo.
