tx counties and roads in aea

Is there someone out there that might have the county outlines of TX and
roads in the aea projection already.   Everytime I take the tiger data that
I already have in utm projection and try to convert them to aea through
v.proj, they seem to get shifted.
They seem to be pulling from the same datum, so if you can help, it sure
would save me some time.
