DEM development

Dear Users,
I have encountered problems in developing DEMs in Grass aswell as 
Phil, (x94odenkirk at wmich.edu). 
I have digitized topographic contour maps in Geocad yet within 
v.digit Grass does not recognise the the z-values, i.e. I labelled 
the contours in Geocad with elevation values and then imported the 
files into Grass as DXF.
As I am digitizing 1:50000 maps across the Pyrennees Mountain Belt 
every 100metre contour, it is not pratical to relabel again.
Any help would be most appreciated.
