US Counties as GRASS polygons?

I'd recommend using the TIGER/Line data from the Bureau of the Census. 
The applicable GRASS commands include,, and (which is used to extract just those records that you 
desire). I believe that there is a short tutorial for these commands on 
the GRASS ftp site.
