d.mon:"can not allocate any read/write color cells"

Thanks a lot for your help. I installed the g77 (which is not
installed along with gcc by default as I thought) and all
compilation prolems but one
are solved. The remaining one is:
#################################################################
/usr/local/grass42/src421/src.related/rim
  make -f OBJ.linux/make.rules

run.setup
make: run.setup: Command not found
make: *** [rim] Error 127
GISGEN failure at STEP: src.related/rim

Rim is not (by now) critical for us, though, so I went on with the
installation without it.

The real problem is that I get the following error when runing d.mon, and
this
seems more serious:

[root at localhost bin]# d.mon start=x0 &
[1] 22540
[root at localhost bin]# can not allocate any read/write color cells

and the monitor window never comes up.

I had problems at configuring X because my Matrox card was not included
in the RedHat list of supported hardware, so I got a driver from the
Matrox site (actually it is a SuSe driver) along with the newer version of
XFree86 (Release 3.3.2) and edited the XF86Config file.May be what I
finally have
is not compatible with Grass?
Are there resolutions that could be incompatible with Grass 4.1.2?

Thanks

Agus
