Making mosaics for arial photos with grass

Well, it is not a very easy thing to do, but anything can be done in
GRASS if you give it a try. You will have to import the photos
(r.in.tiff), make the geometric corrections (i.point, i.vpoint,
i.rectify, i.rectify2), cut the part of the raster file  that you need
(r.mapcalc) and finally patch them all together (r.patch). Make sure
that the photos are scanned in 8bit and issue the command "d.colormode
float" before starting the corrections. The user's manual will help you
with that, and maybe you can check Nikolay Bankov's Master's thesis (for
Maich). I think you can make your mosaic, but I prefer ERDAS Imagine
much more :)
