configure error

As far as I can tell this problem was only present in 
the distribution from www.geog.uni-hannover.de. I have
downloaded the file grass5.0beta3g.tar from 
www.baylor.edu and there is no problem. 
(BTW: it's odd that the beta3 be on a directory
named grass5.0beta2)
