Folks,

I am having to use grass4.3 again for a project which has lay dormant
for awhile as a module Ineed is only present in there and does not work
correctly in the 5.x releases. Anyway I downloaded the linux binaries
and they of course installed in a snap with the newer install script.
But when I tried to run the program I received the error

Unable to properly access /home/grass/.gislock
Please notify system personel.

This sounds familiar but I could not remember the solution so I checked
the archives http://www.baylor.edu/~grass/faq/index.html by seaching on
subjects and also the FAQ http://www.baylor.edu/~grass/faq/index.html
but was not able to find a solution for this for 4.3 and moving to 5.x
is not an option.

I am running Linuxppc 2000 with glibc-2.1.3-4a

Will I just have to recompile the 4.3 source on this machine? If so I
saw that the MkLinux header is posted on the FAQ at Baylor and Markus'
site's however the link with compile instructions at
http://www.baylor.edu/~grass/faq/compile_grass.html and at
http://www.geog.uni-hannover.de/grass/faq/compile_grass.html is dead.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance
