r.watershed advice?

I've been playing with r.watershed using 7.5' dems as the elevation file.
I'm only really interested in the visual result, which is not very
intelligible so far.  The dems have these e/w linear ridges which don't
help.

Is there someone who uses this command frequently who might have some
advice regarding parameters (like threshhold) and colors for getting a good
visual output?
