[GRASSLIST:1752] trouble with reprojecting world map

Hello,

I downloaded the new world map that Markus reworked from the orginial UNESCO 
GRID version. It is in lat/long and I would like to reproject it to a 
mollweide projection in order to make nicer world maps.

I've created a new location, defining the mollweide projection and trying 
several ellipsoids (sphere, wgs84, ...), but everytime I run v.proj to import 
the map from the global location, I get a map with lines across the entire 
map, and 5 unattached labels.
Is this a problem due to the quality of the data (I know this originally comes 
from ESRI data, so I shouldn't expect the best quality), or am I doing 
something wrong ? What ellipsoid would you use for a world map in the 
mollweide projection ?
