Hello all:

I admit I am a newbie to most of this but....

I tried compiling the latest Grass source in cygwin and got this error in
the configure script:

$ ./configure --enable-postgres=no \
>     --x-includes=/usr/X11R6/include \
>     --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib \
>     --with-tcltk-libs=/usr/local/lib \
>     --with-tcltk-includes=/usr/local/include
checking host system type... i686-pc-cygwin
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
creat
e executables.

Any ideas where I need to start?

gcc does work dispite what the configure script says.
