[GRASSLIST:2051] Announcement: Mining Features Dataset for California released

This is an FYI for folks.

California's Department of Conservation, Office of Mine Reclamation
released GIS layers of mining features digitized from USGS 24k maps
covering the state of California. The USGS has not digitized these
symbols from their maps, so they haven't been previously available
as a dataset.

At this time, the data is only available as ESRI shapefiles. With some
prodding I could be convinced to make a GRASS mapset and tables suitable
for sucking into PostgreSQL.

See http://www.consrv.ca.gov/omr/amlu/toms/index.html for more info.

Have a nice day ;)
