You might want to use the raster importer in NIMAMUSE to export the DTED
data into GRASS rasters.  Not all platforms will support the export of GRASS
rasters.  NIMAMUSE running on IRIX will and NIMAMUSE running on Win32 will
not.  Not sure about the Solaris or HPUX version.  NIMAMUSE is available at
