[GRASSLIST:2634] Can I import USGS DOQQ files?

Howdy,

I found some DOQQs at http://www.gisdatadepot.com, and wondered if I
can import them into Grass 5.  I downloaded one (it was about 7Mb),
and tried to import it with r.in.gdal, but it didn't recognise any of
the files as a supported format.

BTW, what exactly are DOQs?  I see it says something about infrared,
and 1 meter.  Are they essentially infrared photographs with 1 meter
resolution?  (If so, no wonder they're so big!)
