sorry, should be sent to the list as well.....
what about saving the file in a sites-file with the
map=<sitestfile-nameoption of d.sites.pg.
Use cats=<decimal-attribute-column-of-db-tableand start
s.surf.[idw,rst] with input=<sitestfile-name.
I have not tested this, but it should be working at least with
s.surf.rst.
