[GRASSLIST:5534] spherical globe projection in nviz

Don't I remember that nviz used to be able to wrap lat-lon rasters onto a
spherical globe.

I think that Bill Brown even made a cover of Grassclippings with such a globe
mapping (perhaps I show my age here  ;-)  ).

Can it still do that?    How?
