[GRASSLIST:5856] vector alternative to r.volume

What command (or commands) would you suggest me to use for vector layers? I am 
about to get the coordinates of the centroid, area and perimeter for every 
category in a clumped vector layer with the isolated areas.

v.dump might be the appropriate one, but when I try to use it on the layer 
with approx. 900 areas, it ends with Segmentation fault.
