If Solaris 8 is like Solaris 9 (and it is very close) there is no
ldconfig command.....
The Solaris equivalent is ....crle....  I urge you to read the man pages
VERY carefully and visit the Sun web site and search for tech documents
about its use.....one slight misstep in using it and you may not be able
to reboot!!!

Sun advises that you make backups & make "practice" directories before
using -- I speak from sad, personal experience -- do it!

.....in the long run I've found it easier most times to make the
softlinks from wherever Sun puts stuff (libs, etc) to wherever the
"linux" software thinks it should be...tedious but safe...
