In that situation:

1. I would ask the maintainers to stay with the GPL, i.e. the entire
GRASS distribution would be licensed under the GPL, and anything which
prohibited that would be rejected. Of course, the final decision would
be up to the maintainers.

2. Any contributions which I made would probably only be available
under the GPL (as I said before, there are a few cases where I
consider the use of other licences to be appropriate). If the
maintainers decided to use other licences for certain parts of GRASS,
presumably any contributions which I might have made to those parts
wouldn't be accepted.

3. If too much of GRASS was released under licences which allow
proprietary use, I would probably just give up on GRASS. I wouldn't
want to put time and effort into a project where the "free" version
was a second-rate imitation of a proprietary product.
