Hello Lawrence,

I had the same problem with a sites file. When I imported an ascii-file only
three dimension fields where recognized and I am not shure whether
s.surf.idw
accepts a dim field for interpolation.

Check the Statistics of your RedSeaBathyFinal for the type of your field.

In my case the problem was s.in.ascii. I could not import with the d=2
option only d=3 worked. The result was a rasterfile with 3 dim fields (the
decimal value was counted as a dimension). But s.surf.idw did not work with
the dim field.

After recompiling the latest CVS also r.in.ascii worked fine and also
s.surf.idw worked.

I hope my comments are useful for you.

Richard

Hi,

Thanks to Eve for the suggestion- didn't work, though I've figured out its
something to do with having an external monitor attached.

My next question: getting the following error when running s.surf.idw:

Reading sites amp (RedSeaBathyFinal) ...Error:
Decimal field 1 not present in sites file

This seems like a fairly simple, yet fundamental error. There were no error
messages when I imported this file (an ascii file) and it displays fine. Can
anybody suggest where I'm going wrong?

Thanks,

Lawrence
