[GRASSLIST:9352] transparence

Dear users,
do you know how and if it is possible to plot a "transparent" raster map
superimposed to another one...
I mean an aerial photo overimposed by a "transparent" map representing
the result of r.los ....
I have done this using nviz but now I need to automatize the process
into a shell script and so I need to use a planimetric view, i.e. the x0
monitor ...
