[GRASSLIST:9562] d.colors for foating point map?

Hello,

I have a map which is in floating point values. How can I change the 
displayed color range? When I try ro run "d.colors" on the map I get the 
error: "d.colors only works with integer maps". In the manual there is 
something written that I first have to set d.colormode to float but this 
command does not exist on my system (Grass 6.0 cygwin).

Any help is welcome.
