[GRASSLIST:5850] error when importing geotiff

Hi Grass users,

I am trying to import an landsat geotiff image with:
r.in.gdal input=p130r38_5t19940626_nn1.tif output=p130r38_5t19940626_nn1

and I get the following error message:
r.in.gdal: relocation error: /usr/lib/libgeotiff.so.1.2.2: undefined symbol: 
TIFFMergeFieldInfo

What does that mean?
I have no problem reading this image with its georeferencing information with 
openev which also rely on gdal.
