[GRASSLIST:5340] r.in.gdal fails

Any ideas what could be wrong here?
Importing tif- or jpeg-files fails with the following message:

assertion "codecs == NULL" failed: file
"/usr/src/tiff/tiff-3.7.0beta2/libtiff/tif_compress.c",line 258

Where could I start the error search?
