Hello GRASS and QGIS folks,

We want to announce that release of our third version, Poseidon Linux 2.0.
We started this project on September 2004, with a initial release on April
2005 (Poseidon Linux 1.2), second on July (1.3), and third (2.0) now.

About Poseidon Linux - www.poseidon.furg.br <http://www.poseidon.furg.br>

Poseidon Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution for academic and scientific use.
Poseidon Linux is a remastering from Kurumin, but differs from Kurumin by
adding a large number of programs of interest for GIS/Maps, numerical
modelling, 2D/3D/4D visualization, statistics, tools for creating simple and
complex graphics, programming languages and more. Also, there are tools for
daily use (like an office suite, internet browser, instant messaging, chat,
and lots of good stuff). Poseidon Linux runs on two modes: live-cd and
installed on HD. It has support only for Brazilian Portuguese, but English
and Spanish versions are coming soon.

Now, we are working on translations for our website, Spanish is 50% done,
and English is almost done).

GRASS 6.0.1 (from Debian GIS) is included with spgrass and QGIS 0.7 (also
from Debian GIS) with Grass Tools. Also included is JUMP, GPSMan, GPSDrive,
Terraview, and lots of good OSS.

Also, our foundation is already teaching courses and seminars about Poseidon
and GIS Open Source Software in our country.

Please note: there is NO English/Spanish version of Poseidon Linux yet. We
are working on then right now. But, more translators (Portuguese to English)
are welcome.

Bye,
