[GRASSLIST:9197] GPS with GRASS

Hi,
  have been trying to use GPS (Garmin eTrex) with GRASS.
   
  1. GRASS needs Project4 installation for communicating with GPS
      Pl help with step by step installation procedure 
   
  2. Succeeded in using GPSDRIVE, with GPS, but it uses small scanned maps of
      a particular resolution, with a disclaimer, not to use for navigation.
   
  3. Suggest any software that Imports GRASS data, or shape files..
   
  4. Qgis for Linux also has lots of hassles.
      Pl help with step by step installation procedure
