[GRASSLIST:935] grass data representation

Hello :-)

I'm studying grass and I've some doubts :

- apart from the concepts of raster and vector image types, how does grass
represent internal data? does it use indexes ? what's its relation with
other
dbs such as in sql ?

Is there any url or article that I can consult to helo me out ?
