[GRASSLIST:10312] ps.map: hatching and png

Hi list,
I would like to create a hatched area with ps.map and I already found a 
posting about this on this list [1]. 
The only problem: there's a link to a png-pattern, but the link is broken. 
Maybe someone knows the answer to the following questions:

* is it possible to create a hatch-pattern with transparent background or 
background in a different colour? The manual of ps.map says that 
"Color and width of patterns is set by acolor and pwidth", but it did not work 
in my case
* how can I create a png-pattern? Examples available?
