Thanks Len.

I wonder why the e00conv has vanished from the binary, it seems to
defeat the whole point. I have tried two installations from source,
version 0.5 and version 1.0.0. But both are failling in the same
way. This is what I tried.

dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # tar xfv e00compr-0.5.tar.gz
dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # cd e00compr-0.5
dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # make
dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # ls -l|grep conv

-rwxr--r-- 1 500 users 2992 1999-02-25 17:34 cpl_conv.h
-rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 3776 2006-07-12 20:19 cpl_conv.o
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root staff 29661 2006-07-12 20:19 e00conv

-rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 3032 2006-07-12 20:19 e00conv.o

dell-2 /usr/local/src/e00compr-0.5 # e00conv /path/to/pbd90.e00 /path/to/pdb90.conv
bash: e00conv: command not found

This is funny to me, doesn't my grep search show the executable? So how
come the command is not found?

And two further questions.
2) Could apt-get install earlier e00conv inclusive versions of e00compr?
3) Why is the install from source failling?

cheers
Dave
