[GRASS-user] vector from xyz (newbie)

no spaces at the end of the lines or anything?

Certainly not the case, unless export from R is unclean.

Is that v.in.ascii telling you that you have 24 points, v.info, or
v.surf.rst? If v.surf.rst try "g.region vect=yourpoints" first.
