R: [GRASS-user] Profile and tangential curvatures in r.slope.aspect

Thanks to Brad for the answer.
I read the paper(s) of Mitasova but they refer to Interpolation by Spline
(s.surf.tps). 
Does anybody know some paper explaining with more details the use of "..3rd
order finite difference....." in r.slope.aspect?
