I don't recall right now... is ESPG:29101 Brazilian Polyconic?
If so, there is a mistake in EPSG's definition - the definition states
a false northing that shouldn't be there. Just copy the definition
without the false northing and it should reproject correctly.

It was FrankW himself that has helped me with this issue.

Again, if you are talking about Brazilian Polyconic, then no, you
can't work in degrees, but you must work in meters.
