[GRASS-user] Automatically get region bounds of a raster

Hi,

I have a series of landsat tiles to process.  Some tiles contain only
small islands and I want to restrict processing to the areas with
"valid" values only.  Is there a way to automatically get the region
bounds for a layer containing only those with data values/not null?
This way, I can script the processing to a limited region.
