[GRASS-user] Problem with installation of GRASS 6.4.0RC5

Dear all,

I am experiencing a problem after installing from source GRASS 6.4.0RC5 (I 
am working on OSX 10.5). This is the message I get when trying to run 
g.region (and subsequently when opening the same project- I suspect the 
WIND file gets corrupted): error setting region (problem with g.region?): 
child process exit abnormally.

I suspect, having read some threads, the problem must lie with an incorrect 
version of gdal that I have installed. The version I used is 1.6.2.

Any suggestion on what I should do?
