Daniel,

   This is yet another way of organizing data. Thinking about it in light of
what I want to do, it makes sense. I can put all the basic maps in
PERMANENT, then have a mapset for the project-specific area with its more
restricted bounds.

   I'll re-arrange everything once again. :-)
