[GRASS-user] which points in vector A fall in areas of vector B?

v.select should do what you want (well unless you use grass6.5+ compiled 
with GEOS you only get the overlay operator, but for points in areas 
this is almost equal to within), so you would need to be more specific 
about how you used it and what "without success" means (error ?).
