[GRASS-user] v.in.ascii slowness in GRASS 6.4.0

I have been using v.in.ascii for some time and performance has been very 
good through GRASS 6.3.0. However, with GRASS 6.4.0 importing ascii 
points is painfully slow. What is causing this; can I speed-up the 
process with any options? The -b option (Don't build topology points 
does not seem to help.
