Simply answer:
GRASS is GRASS, TauDEM/Tardem is TauDEM. Both programs started in the
same time (but Tatrdem is a little older than most GRASS hydrologic
tools) and had its own path of development.
What is available in GRASS you can read in help pages.
Some TauDEM possibilities has status experimental (including constant
drop) so it is only available in TauDEM
