[GRASS-user] Get latest point in 1x1 meters grid

Hello,

I have a vector map with thousand of points and each of them have a
timestamp attribute. I put a grid of 1x1 meters over the vector map and
picked the latest point of each rectangle with an intersection.

My problem is the size of the grid (2GB), which causes a very long
access time of v.overlay. 

Someone has an idea to get the pointset result faster or in real-time?
