[GRASS-user] Meta Data Management Suggestions

For individual layers in GRASS, you can add descriptive information
and processing history using r.support.
To access the information, use r.info.

Many metadata support files in GRASS are simple text files.

A simple shell script can parse that data and reformatted into a human
readable format.
