The metadata given in Glovis [1] (there is an option "show metadata") do not
agree with the ones provided in the file L5016035_03519871014_MTL.txt [2]
(ordered and) downloaded along with all bands from usgs/eros.
Note that the LC lsat5 rasters are of 28.5m while the currently available at
usgs is of 30m pix-res. I just kept the 28.5 (when reprojecting the usgs-lsat5
to the nc_spm_08 location)
Well, the band's values do not match. This makes things more complicated (?).

Also checked r.univar for all bands and plotted histograms as well (for fun a
custom script below drawing histograms in 2 rows by 7 cols).

i.landsat.toar band_prefix=lsat5_1987.reloaded method=uncorrected sensor=5
date=1987-10-14 solar_elevation=39.7510650 product_date=1987-10-14
and
i.landsat.acca -5 -2 band_prefix=lsat5_1987.reloaded.toar
output=lsat5_1987.reloaded.toar.acca --o --v
gives even worse results (maybe suitable for road network extraction :-p).
