I think the data you have is just normal geodata, not specific GRASS-Data: a
Tiff (Geotiff?) and an ESRI Shapefile (=dbf-, prj-, a qpj-, a shp- and a
shx-file). So it seems your problem is not related to GRASS at all, but to
the problem of importing geodata into R. Therefore I'd suggest to refer to
the nabble  http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/ R forum .
