FYI:
Note that GDAL does not support a needed geolocation correction
when reprojecting from Sinusoidal to something else. This is
supported by the MODIS Reprojection Tool (only).

We dug once into the MRT code to understand if it could be applied
to GDAL, too, but that part is fairly complex. That's the reason why
the new r.modis modules use MRT rather than GDAL.
