[GRASS-user] 6.4.2 packages for Debian/squeeze (was: Trouble installing add-ons)

Dear Hamish

I could not instal 'grass-dev' (grass-dev_6.4.2-1_amd64.deb):

$ gdebi grass-dev_6.4.2-1_amd64.deb
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree        
Reading state information... Done
Building data structures... Done 
Building data structures... Done 
This package is uninstallable
Cannot install 'libgdal1-dev'

Therefore, I tried to install 'libgdal1-dev', but:

$ apt-get install libgdal1-dev
Lendo listas de pacotes... Pronto
Construindo árvore de dependências       
Lendo informação de estado... Pronto
Alguns pacotes não puderam ser instalados. Isto pode significar que
você solicitou uma situação impossível ou, se você está usando a
distribuição instável, que alguns pacotes requeridos não foram

 libgdal1-dev : Depends: libpq-dev mas não será instalado

I know that it is in Portuguese but, in resume, there are some broken packages and/or dependencies. In the fist note above ("você está usando a distribuição instável") means that the trouble is due to the fact that I am using the unstable distribution. Is I can't install grass-dev, I'll not have the 'include' dir and the 'Module.make' file...

Makefile:10: /usr/lib/grass64/include/Make/Module.make: file or directory not found!


... and 'g.extension' fails.

Can you, please, fix it?

have a try with these:  (amd64/squeeze only)
  http://download.osgeo.org/grass/grass64/binary/linux/debian/squeeze/

That is not a debian repository, do not add it to your sources.list file.
It is just a few .debs I threw up in case they are useful to others. They
are not official and not guaranteed to work (let me know if they don't and
I'll try and fix them, of course). I have used the official 6.4.2 GRASS
source code and DebianGIS git build rules to create them though, so they
should not differ from official sources.

(put on download.o.o instead of grass.o.o since they are not intended
to be official packages from the grass project, just a community offering)


feedback on the new packages are very welcome as we are preparing to
upload almost identical packages to debian/main soon.
