[GRASS-user] system variable and aliase's for grass 7.0.3 in linux bash shell

I've googled around this and attempted to put the following in
~/.grass7/bashrc

alias e=emacs

but it doesn't seem to work. I use emacs a lot and just want the alias
e to equal "emacs" when running grass in command line. I also want to
get a nice short command prompt that doesn't have all the subdirectories
listed, any suggestions?

Thanks
