The new addon module r.quantile.ref for grass7 calculates per pixel
the corresponding quantile of an input map compared to a reference
time series. The purpose of the module is to compare current
environmental conditions, e.g. temperature, rainfall, NDVI, to the
range of previous observations. The new module is equivalent to the
reverse of r.series method=quantile: r.series calculates the value of
a given quantile using a reference time series (the quantile is fixed
with the quantile option), while r.quantile.ref calculates the
quantile of a given value using a reference time series. Further on,
the given value is not fixed but supplied as an input map. This allows
easy investigation of how current conditions relate to the previously
observed range.
