Dear all,
I would like to announce a new module in GRASS Addons called
r.colors.cubehelix [1]. It can set a color table for a raster map in the
same was as r.colors. It can also save color table (the rules) to a file.
However, it does not uses any predefined tables. Instead, you as a user
define parameters of a cubehelix color table. These color tables have good
optical properties and are friendly to color blind people and to grayscale
printing.
As an additional feature, the module can create a discretized color table
with intervals of same color instead of continuous gradient even for
continuous data. The module depends on the Python seaborn package which is
available in the software repositories (e.g., package python-seaborn on
Ubuntu).
Again, as in the case of r.colors.matplotlib, thanks to Isaac Ullah for the
idea.
Please provide feedback if you have some and enjoy,
Vaclav
