[GRASS-user] 7.7.dev: save maps in GUI?

Working with the GUI to develop maps is flexible and rapid. Using the tools
in the map display window adding legends, scale bars, north arrows, and text
are quick and easy and often are 'good enough' for inclusion in reports.

When the layers for such a map are finalized, and the visual area defined, I
can save those layers and map size as a workspace. I would like to be able
to save the decorations (text, scale bar, north arrow, legend) either in the
workspace or as a saved map.

Is there a way to do this, other than writing a script? Would being able to
save the map decorations as well as layers and colors be a worthwhile
addition to the tool kit?
