for this script to work I have to put the original files in the directory
C:\Program Files\QGIS Dufour\bin. I worked this out when I typed <DIR> in
the command console.
Typing <ls> in the command console also returns the contents of this
directory.
typing <pwd> in the command console returns "/osgeo4w/bin"
So, what I'd like to change the directory in the command console such that I
don't have to put original data files in the QGIS2 bin folder. Please see
my earlier post for more details.

Missed your earlier post, but did you try "cd <your data
directory>" ??<br>
If your data is on a different drive (D: for example) you first type
"D:" then, after you've switched to that drive, the "cd" command.<br>

Typing your suggestions don't change the results of <ls>, <pwd>, or <DIR>.
So I'm at a loss as to what to do. My next step was to install GRASS
independently of QGIS, but i'd rather not as I can see that might all sorts
of other conflicts.
