Q. src/libes/edit/ does not compile:

A. Be sure to have libncurses5 and libncurses5-devel installed.

   There is a known problem with certain versions of gcc, particularly
   the one which is supplied with Mandrake 8.x, which results in the file
   src/libes/edit/edit_cellhd.c failing to compile.
   As a consequence further modules will not compile.
   The problem has been fixed in CVS (8/2002).
